Precious Joys

There always seems to be this beautiful moment when new life is brought into this world. For some it is the pre-budding of a tree, the first snowflakes that falls to the ground and the way a small hand wraps around a secure finger.

Whichever it is, however it happens it brings something to us … joy.

For example meet Jack. He is a wonderful, handsome breath of fresh air where you can feel the love for him the moment you walk into the room, 80 degrees and all.

As his parents cradle him with hugs and kisses a tangible glow emulates across their faces.

Perhaps it’s the new parent look or the peace that a sleeping baby can bring but, for this family as gazes were met and snuggles were given it was the ear to ear smiles that really grabbed me and made me see the wonder that is around us if we just take the time to look and receive.

This Christmas as the family piles up at the table and gifts are given, lets strive to see the joy in the small bits throughout the day

Merry Christmas

A Thankful Heart

A Thankful Heart

As some of you may know, I am originally from Massachusetts… Where driving is more of a roller derby, and you know what everyone is thinking because they’re yelling it at you! It is very different than the Minnesota nice (maybe not so much with some of the crazy drivers). Though I am in love with living in the Mid-West, it can also be draining on the heart to be away from family… especially the little ones.

These two bundles of joy definitely help with that! When they are around, I get all the loving’s that, not only do I desire, but need from one of the most important things anyone will encounter this Holiday Season. A family!

I am so incredibly grateful for their joy, life, spunk, and for those cuties always being simply amazing!

As you are surrounded at the table by those you love, take a moment to count your blessings… the big, the small, and especially your loved ones. Squeeze them a little longer, laugh a little deeper, and remember to soak it all in. We should never forget the importance of family.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Love,

Falling Together

Falling Together

Carving pumpkins, drinking lattes, apple orchards, and jumping in piles of leaves... these are just a few of the memories that come to mind when I think of Autumn. This past Sunday I got to experience them all!

As we strolled along the beautiful Wayzata beach something even more beautiful and breathtaking was taking place and not just in the leaves...

Families were together, laughing, smiling, hugging, and remembering the simple joys in letting go of the stresses of the world; just as the leaves let go of the strain of the branch.

People weren’t thinking about the deadline at work, or of the dinner that needed to be made. Rather, they were enjoying the simple moments of family and what it means.

This Autumn, as you cozy up with cider and continue with traditions, don’t forget to take the time to look around you and smile with those you love and meet.

The Little Moments

The Little Moments

From summer bike rides to the joy of tasting different flavors at Nelson’s ice cream shop, each of these moments paints the creativity of life.

That creativity is what inspires fun in its' purest form. One of my favorite ways to see it would be through the eyes of these peanuts pictured above. As they danced, imagined, embarked on adventures, their love for the simple moments became apparent as the sun became less and their hearts became full.

Those times are the ones that I will hold dear as life comes and makes its' way. Whether through stress and peace, fear or wonder, I hope that I can one day see as they see and believe as they believe.

All moments, no matter how they appear, are always lived in a color that helps paint our lives each day.

The Joy in Learning

One of the perks about being in the photography business is that you always have a chance to learn something new! Whether that be new lighting techniques, different poses, or post editing processes.

For example, just a week ago I was able to acquire the Phottix Strato II. "Huh?'", you might be asking.

It is basically a two part system, transmitter and receivers, that enables me to remotely control a flash wherever I want and in other circumstances allows me to also use it as a wireless shutter release. Or for nerds like my boyfriend, David, it means that we get all gussied up, go on a picnic and play around with taking pictures of us. That's right, every photo that you see was taken using the camera mounted on a tripod and a wireless shutter release! Hope you enjoy seeing what goofs we are!
